My MOVIEW REVIEWS - Consenting Adults
Well what a hidden gem this turned out to be. It came out in 1992 but for whatever reason I missed this one. The write up seemed interesting so I gave it a go. Kevin Spacey is superb here. Funny at first, then turning sinister - a role he plays to perfection. Kevin Kline as the straight guy - no humour - again an inspired casting. The tale starts off as one of middle America suburbia, with hints of wife swapping, but nothing out of the ordinary. But events take an unexpected turn and the tale quickly unravels into something dark and disturbing. The age of this film doesnt really affect the watching, except for the odd reminder of life before we all had mobile or cell phones as they say in the states. Well worth a watch if you havent seen it before, and well worth a re-watch if you have. I give this a 7 1/2 out of 10.
