Day One of My Week with The Rolling Stones - I Can't Get No (Satisfaction)

Day One of My Week with The Rolling Stones then, and we kick off with the amazing I Can't Get No (Satisfaction)!

Originally released in 1965, this is a classic for sure. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, this is still a tour favourite. Yes you heard that correct, this band, some 50 years later almost, are still touring!

Back in the day, apparently this was considered too risque initially! However it still went on to storm to the top spot in the UK charts, giving the Stones their fourth number one.

This is true British rock. It kicks in with a very distinctive guitar riff, pardon the basic description, but it goes "ne, ne, ne ne ne, ne, ne ne ne ne " and off we go for a true bit of classic rock. Mick enters with the line "I can't get no, satisfaction".

The lyrics, quite clearly, are a bit sexual and its not surprising that it really established The Stones as a force to be reckoned with. I gather its about feeling frustrated!! The track featured on the US version of their album Out of Their Heads, back in 1965.

The video to this is the band doing a live version, this one was in 1990 on one of their many tours! Not bad for considerably old men now to still be strutting around. Only Jagger can pull off that particular move!

I really enjoyed listening to this, and I can say it put me in a good mood and sent me off singing "I Can't Get No" for most of the day as a result. No bad thing for me, I don't have a problem with my voice, I'm used to it - its other people I feel for really!! If you fancy a bit of retro go take a listen. You may think you are too young, and that a band from this era is not for you. You might just be surprised. Happy Listening :)
