Day 5 of My Week with the Arctic Monkeys - Don't Sit Down Cause I've Moved Your Chair

Day Five of My Week with the Arctic Monkeys and today its 'Don't Sit Down Cause I've Moved Your Chair'.

This is a classic Arctic Monkeys number. It was released in 2011 as the first single from their album Suck It And See, which came out the same year. Suck It And See was their fourth studio album.

Don't Sit Down.. reached number 28 in the main UK singles chart, and number 4 in the indie chart. It wasn't their biggest hit, but its possibly one of the most distinctive. Its darker, and grungier and far more indie than many of their releases.

Alex virtually growls through this one, as opposed to singing. Its quite bassy, lending itself to Turner's unique vocals and the cool image that this band from Sheffield rock.

The video is a bit headache inducing. Lots of blurred, over exposed images flashing by, very out of focus. Clips of football games flash by, and images of the band. Not much of a story to it, not very pleasing to watch. Bit disappointing this video if I'm honest. Shame, the track is great.

What I really like about this track is the lyrics. Consider what would happen if you sat down and someone had moved your chair. You would fall on your behind. No biggy really. The lyrics though run through all manner of much more dangerous pursuits!! 'Run with scissors', 'start a fight', and my particular favourite "wear your shellsuit on bonfire night'. Genius.

This is a brilliant track, sounds great, well written, the usual cool indie vocals from Mr Turner. Fab song, fab band. Pity about the video, but you can't have everything. Go take a listen, or just let me know what you think of this one.

If you missed choices 1-4, you can find them on My Music page by clicking here.  Happy listening :)
