Day 6 of My Week With the Arctic Monkeys - Arabella

Day 6 of My Week with the Arctic Monkeys and today it is 'Arabella'.

Arabella is another track from their fifth studio album, AM. I've already chosen Snap Out of It  and Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High. Lots of hits from this album for sure.

The album was released in 2013, but this being the fifth single take from it, it wasn't released until 2014. It didn't chart very high in the UK singles chart, not reaching the top 100 even, but by the time this was released the album was huge so that's most likely why. it hit number 26 in the indie chart.

Do not let that put you off this song. Its sultry, broody and catchy, and every bit as good as the bigger hits. Its a bit more rock than some of their other tracks, still on the indie inclination but darker. You can hear influences in this track of where they got their inspiration from, its a bit retro rock in places.

The video is a bit risque, so just to prepare you. Its black and white and a nudge to the erotic. Alex looks cool, and to my mind a bit Brian Ferry circa Roxy Music era - white shirt, slicked back hair and all that. He sounds cool and effortless as he snarls his distinctive talented vocals.

Such a catchy, mid tempo, very rock track this one. The lyrics are also a bit risque to match the style and video. Such as the lines 'There's magic in a cheetah print coat, just a slip underneath it I hope". Ooh I say!! Naughty boy he.

Seriously, this is fab. Right up there with the best of them. Go check it out and let me know what you think. For more you can check out My Music page by clicking here. Happy listening :)
