My single of the week this week is the wonderful new track 'All About That Bass' by Meghan Trainor.
Technically, this isn't released here yet. Its officially released on 5th October, but its already massive. Definitely tipped for success this one - I think its going to be number one.
'All about that Bass' is the first single from Meghan Trainer, an American singer. The title refers to bass as being your behind. Its a real positive track about embracing your curves, not worrying about your weight and having lots of "junk" in all the right places. Yep, its all for us girlies this one.
I have found out that there is a right furore about this song at the moment. She refers to them skinny bitches, but honestly, its not an anti skinny track. Good lord every woman, curvy, skinny and everything in between has body issues. Its saying not to worry and that we are all perfect, its not anti anyone other than the media who keep telling us thin is the ideal!! Slim and healthy or just healthy is the way to go!!
Finally an artist releases a song when she herself has curves, and the world goes mad. Come on all the ladies out there - we get enough grief in life, lets all leave each other be hey - this is a great song, sending out all the right messages.
As a curvy girl myself, this is right up my street. The video is quirky and bright - lots of girlie dresses and pastel colours and false eyelashes. She's a talented singer, and very beautiful and clearly very confident in her own skin. She's got an unusual and memorable voice, and its not just pop its funky.
I think this is such a different, catchy little number, and its saying all the right things for me. Go check it out and let me know what you think. I absolutely love this track!!
