Day Four of My Week with Madonna and today it is 'Hung up'.
This single was the lead from her album 'Confessions on a Dance Floor'. The album, her tenth, was released in 2005, this single released the same year.
I'm going to kick straight into talking about the video for this one, as its the first time I have seen it and its amazing. She looks amazing. There, I said it. I mean Madonna is known for being sexy and raunchy, but actually that's not what I mean here. The physique she displays in this is dynamite. Toned to the point of perfection, not an ounce of fat on her, but before the point where she was a little too much almost masculine. This was where she should have stopped.
She's donned in a pink leotard, dancing around a dance studio with a big boom box playing. Then there are free runners and street dancers, culminating in them all gyrating and dancing strutting their stuff in the disco on the dancefloor.
This track is all about disco but still modern, edgy and dance, with a big booming bass thumping behind it. It also strongly feature the Abba track Gimme Gimme Gimme, but respectfully to their awesome disco status. This is a fabulous disco / dance track, and Madge sounds fabulous too.
This track put Madonna back to her popular status, as despite being a global superstar, her popularity had waned a little. She came back with a bang and reinvented herself yet again.
You won't be surprised that this went straight in at the number one spot in the UK charts. It was a massive hit. Its catchy, and makes you want to dance.
Another fabulous track from the Queen of Pop. You can check out my previous choices if you want more over at My Music page by clicking here. Let me know what you think, and drop me a comment. Happy listening :)
