Day five of my week with Amy Winehouse and today its 'Our Day Will Come'.
This song was originally recorded by Amy in 2002, but was only released as a single in November 2011 after her death. It reached number 29 in the UK singles chart. Its actually a cover version, the original being by Ruby & The Romantics.
Our Day Will Come was released on Amy's album Lioness: Hidden Treasures. The album was released as a tribute to Amy, as was the release of this single.
Amy put her usual soul, come jazz spin on this song. Its full of emotion, slow paced, but quite upbeat.
The video is a collection of stills and footage of Amy. Its so sad to watch. She was such a talent, such an amazing and one off talent.
Our Day Will Come was the last single from this great artist, and was a reminder of just how wonderful she was. Its easy to forget with how her talent became conflicted with her personal turmoil, just what a pure talent she had.
Well worth a re-listen this one as a reminder. Its just so sad that her day did in fact never come.
