Day seven of my week with Kylie and for our last day its 'I Believe in You'.
This one isn't actually from a new album, rather it was a new song on a greatest hits album if that makes sense. The album in question was released in 2004 and was called Ultimate Kylie.
The single itself was released in late 2004. Its another electro pop sound, with a dance beat and a very synthesised sound to it. Kylie's vocals soar in this one, showing that although she is no Adele in terms of power and range, she actually does have a very beautiful and very distinctive voice.
She sings the title "but I, I, I, believe in you ooh ooh ooh" with the note rising on each 'I'. When I discovered that it was written by Kylie and 2 Scissor Sister members including Jake Shears it makes sense that it sounds the way it does.
The video is beautiful and elegant. Just Kylie, on her tod, surrounding by lots of electric lights and shapes looking perfect. She dons various outfits - a floaty white dress, a cut out purple dress amongst others. At times she looks almost ethereal, especially the end where she stands with the light behind her like a goddess. Oh to have that figure... I digress.
The song reached number 2 in the UK singles chart, but was also a huge dance hit around the world. Kylie, once again proving that she is versatile and can evolve.
This is to me one of her best tracks ever. Its not try hard, its not overly sexy, its just a love song, sung beautifully, with a catchy beat.
So there we have it. The last song of my week with Kylie Minogue. Its been wonderful I have to say.
All that remains to do now is to decide which of my 7 choices is my favourite and then my week with Kylie will be over.
If you can't wait to see who I will choose next, you can find all my previous choices over at My Music page here. Happy listening :)
