My New Single of the Week - FourFiveSeconds - Rihanna, Kanye and Paul McCartney

My new single of the week is the absolutely fabulous 'FourFiveSeconds' collaboration from Rihanna, Kanye and Paul McCartney.

Wow. That was my first reaction on hearing this single. I wasn't sure I liked it as such, but my god Rihanna's vocals on this are breathtaking. Then it grew on me and I started to love it start to finish.

Its such a surprising mix of undeniably talented artists, but them together? Who the hell thought of this collaboration? Its amazing, but it must have been a hard sell pitching this idea.

Lets look at who we have here. Starting with Rihanna - Barbadian pop superstar. She is well known for being controversial, and changes her image and sound frequently - rock, pop, R&B, soul - she's dabbled with so many genres, but nothing like this.

Then there's Kanye West. American and more known for his rapping than his singing, although he can also sing. He is usually more 'gansta' hip hop style. I wasn't expecting his change of direction.

Then we have Sir Paul. English, megastar, mega talented, former Beatle. He is just amazing. To still be involved in these sort of projects is just awesome.

So putting all these three together, you might expect some high glamour, high gloss, polished manufactured number. Not so, not at all. 'FourFiveSeconds' is stripped back and pure. Its sound is effortless, though amazing.

The video is the same. It does remind me of a Gap clothes ad - black and white, nothing but the 3 of them doing their thing. Paul on his guitar, Rihanna belting it out, so soulful, then Kanye sounding unbelievably gentle and beautiful vocally. The effect? Mesmerising, catchy, utterly unique, raw talent.

I absolutely adore this song. I need to learn all the words so I can sing it properly. I'm already stuck on the chorus because its amazing. This is going to be huge, but I think it might be a bit Marmite. Some will love it, but I think some might hate it purely because it is so different.

I'm blown away with this one. Just so good, so stand out and so unique. Take a listen and let me know what you think of it. Happy listening. :)
