Day 7 of my week with Paloma Faith and for my final choice its 'Upside Down'.
'Upside Down' was another single from her debut album 'Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful'. It was released in 2010 and was the fourth single from that album.
This song wasn't a particularly big chart success, but when you listen to the album it stands out as one of the more fun and upbeat numbers, which is why I have chosen it. Its a bit different and I like how light hearted it is.
In actual fact this single only reached number 55 in the UK singles chart, so didn't even make the top 40. Don't be distracted by that though, as this is a great song.
The video sees Paloma in her usual vintage style, but looking cute as a button, rather than burlesque and sexy. This video sees her in a gorgeous mustard yellow outfit and jaunty little hat, dancing in front of candy striped background with her 4 gorgeous male dancers dancing around her. Its very 1950's in style, but with a modern twist, like Paloma herself in fact.
Its fun, its light hearted and playful, and the song has that kind of make you feel good vibe. Paloma's voice is so unique, that it just takes the song somewhere else, kind of up a notch from a bit "meh" to actually a bloody good pop song, with a smidging of soul courtesy of her voice which cannot fail to raise the game of any song.
So there we have it, my last choice from my week with Paloma. You can check out days 1-6 plus loads more over at My Music page here. Happy listening :)
