Day Four of My Week with The Kaiser Chiefs - Everyday I love you less and less

Day four of my week with The Kaiser Chiefs and today its 'Everyday I love you less and less'.

This single was the opening song on their debut album 'Employment' which was released back in 2005.

This is The Kaiser's at their rawest. It still sounds powerful and earnest and edgy. Its still as catchy as hell and is just a strong record - rock / indie in equal doses.

I absolutely loved this song the first time I heard it, and to my delight, I still love it just as much. It reached number 10 in the UK singles chart.

Ricky's vocals are less fine tuned, more shouty but all the more original for it. The beat and drums to this are a bit electro and you can clearly tell that they have influences from lots of different music genre which led them to this point. Everything that had gone before in the 70's and 80's bought together to make something quite unique in this track.

The video is pretty much just the band - no gimmicks. They are dressed in black suits with skeletons on them which is quite funny. Ricky acts being next to his girlfriend, clearly hating every minute he is with her! He's wearing eyeliner from the look of it - think early Green Day!

The lyrics are brilliant - sarcastic and clever. This bit in particular is so close to the bone "Everyday I love you less and less, I can't believe once you and me did sex, It makes me sick to think of you undressed". Ouch!!

This is a really strong early record from this great band and I love it. You can find days 1 - 3 plus loads more over at my music page - just click here. Happy listening :)
