New word a week - a new idea of mine to expand my vocabulary

I am full of ideas at the moment. My mind is a regular smorgasbord of ideas it seems. I have no idea why, its just happening. My latest idea? Learn a new word each week.

Now, I am far from illiterate, but lets face it, I am also no Stephen Fry. So it begins - I want to expand my vocabulary. I love to use words that no-one appears to understand. It makes me feel intelligent!! I will take that where I find it.

I am going to pick a word I've heard or read, but aren't 100% certain on its meaning or definition. Or just a word I've not previously encountered.

So without further ado, its time for this week's new word:

  • Gregarious.
(of a person) fond of company; sociable.
"he was a popular and gregarious man"

(of animals) living in flocks or loosely organized communities.
"gregarious species forage in flocks from colonies or roosts"

(of plants) growing in open clusters or in pure associations.
"in the wild, trees are usually gregarious plants"
