My Week with Morrissey Day 7 - The Boy With the Thorn in his Side

For my final day of my week with Morrissey I am finishing on the classic 'The Boy With the Thorn in his Side'.

'The Boy With the Thorn in his Side' was released in 1985. It was from The Smiths third album The Queen is Dead which was released the following year in 1986.

This song is probably the most lovely to listen to of all my choices this week. Morrissey has such beautiful vocals on this one. Once again, this song is all guitars and vocals and a distinctive tune and riff.

The Smiths, and then Morrissey as a solo artist, can be guaranteed to produce songs that really do stand the test of time. This song is still beautiful.

The words just stick in your head "How can they look into my eyes; And still they don't believe me" then "And if they don't believe me now; Will they ever believe me?". You find yourself walking around singing those lines over and over again.

'The Boy with the Thorn in his Side' reached number 23 in the UK singles charts. This song I think was intended to be a bit of a dig at the mainstream scene who were often reluctant to play The Smiths songs.

So there we have it, my last choice of My Week with Morrissey. All that remains to do now is to decide which of my 7 songs are in the number 1 spot. More on that to follow.

If you love music and want more, then head over to My Music page here. Happy listening :)
