This week's retro single of the week - Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved

My New Retro Single of the Week is from the brilliant Maroon 5 with their classic 'She Will Be Loved'.

Released in 2002, this was my favourite Maroon 5 song, until Sugar which just about matches it!!

What I didn't know, is that the very brilliant front man and vocalist, Adam Levine actually wrote this song, along with guitarist James Valentine (great name).

'She Will Be Loved' was taken from Maroon 5's debut album Songs About Jane which was also released in 2002. It was actually the third single from the album, and would become one of 5 singles to be released from it.

This single reached number 4 in the UK singles chart. Its stood the test of time though, as its a true classic and should, in my humble, have hit the top spot.

Maroon 5 are a 5 piece American band, and are described as pop rock. This song is more pop ballad than rock, but they are that sort of band that have a sound that evolves. The album did hit the number 1 spot, and not just in the UK.

This song sounds beautiful, and lead singer Levine's vocals soar. However, it is bittersweet, rather than a love song. Its about a man falling in love with a girl, and also her mother. The video plays it out beautifully, helped by how Levine isn't exactly hard on the eye!!

All in all, this is a wonderful song. It has everything - story, soul, great vocals and great music. If you've never heard this, you are missing out.

Go take a listen and let me know what you think. If you want more music, check out all my previous retro singles of the week, singles of the week and loads more here at My Music page. Happy listening :)
