My new single of the week is the brilliant 'Bad Habits' by The Last Shadow Puppets.
Its been a long time since the Last Shadow Puppets released anything, so I was ecstatic to hear they were about to release new material. Even more so when I heard this single for the first time!! Its so energetic, and charismatic, and so utterly distinctive. Sometimes songs are growers but this was love at first listen for me.
The Last Shadow Puppets, in case you have never heard of them, are a so called "supergroup" or in otherwords a side project of other artists who have their own music / band but have come together to join for something different. In this case, the band consist of Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys, Miles Kane (the Rascals), producer James Ford and Zach Dawes.
Their previous album was back in 2008 - the brilliant 'The Age of the Understatement'. I loved it, but then nothing. Until now that is!! Hoorah!!
The album that 'Bad Habits' is the lead single from is the forthcoming second album 'Everything You've Come to Expect'. If this single is anything to go by, its going to be ace!!
This song is not for the faint hearted. Its dark, its urgent and its powerful. Its kind of thrums along behind the snarly vocals, with a lot of guitar and strings. Its really distinctive and catchy. Probably not so much mainstream - more indie rock than pop bubblegum, but if you like that kind of thing, this is for you.
I love this song, so go take a listen and let me know what you think of it. For loads more singles of the week, past and present, and more music stuff why don't you head over to My Music page - just click here. Happy listening :)
